My new 1.1L of fury

A 4-cylinder sportbike engine, Kawasaki

1993, ZX-11, 1,100cc's topping 11,000 RPMs. This bike held the record for fastest stock bike, for the longest period of time for a bike ever, longer than the Hayabusa.

Got this shortblock for just $40 and couldn't pass up, needs rebuild you can see the broken piston ring land. Some day I'll rebuild it with lower 10:1 compression for turbocharging, source the head it needs.

I'd love to put it in a small light track-only car some day, before a sand rail but I'd also love to do that. 1600lb car 350+ turbo HP is my goal.

Quite common to put Hayabusa engines in Minis back home. They are nuts.

friend of mine has a lotus 7 replica with a bored gsxr1100 engine in it. bought it with a siezed motor (oil starvation) and 2 melted pistons (lack of fuel due to piss poor fuel line routing). sent the block out and had it resleeved to 13xx and fixed the oil and fueling issues. car is incredibly fast. 3qt oil accumulator, 12x18 oil cooler, fuel now feeding both carbs properly and evenly. its been dead reliable too once the bugs were worked out.


im still trying to convince him to go EFI.

I've done some searching and I still can't find a little gearbox unit to put car axels into, adapt to sportbike output shaft, and probably have a reverse gear to use in vehicle. They exist, at least different components exist people build these cars, but still haven't found anything myself.

I read a feature on Lotus 7's in Road and Track (I think) I want one so bad now

look a little into the lotus 7 replicas powered by bike engines. my friends is shaft driven and has an old datsun car rearend.

^ yeah there are tons of variations out there. A lot run old honda shit, 90's turbo Nissan motors, etc etc.
