What do you think my car is worth?

Post by EricVR4 »

***THIS IS NOT A FOR SALE THREAD, SO DON'T MAKE ME ANY OFFERS***

I'm going to be selling it in the next few months most likely, so I'm interested to see what I should be expecting when I put it up for sale. I have a Word document of everything I've ever done, with general mileage and time of when it was done. I'll post that once I get home....I'm at work right now.

But as a general idea:

1992 VR4 with 104k miles
-13T turbos with about 150 miles on them
-DSM blue top 450cc injectors with about 700 miles after being cleaned/flow tested
-LS1 maf/maft
-Transmission rebuilt at 80k miles (I think, might have been 85k)
-NBT Quadco OS/Spool with about 150 miles on them (AdamVR4 reshimmed the tcase and all that)
-Main/rod bearings/thrust washers replaced at 90k miles
-Timing belt, VSS, water pump, oil pump replaced at 90k miles
-Gutted precats with ATR downpipe
-Hotwired walbro 255
-PLX M300 wideband
-Scanmaster 3
-SBC-id iii boost controller
-DSM side mounts
-DNP y-pipe
-KYB GR2s with S-Tech springs
-Maximal Performance adjustable rear control arms
-Maximal Performance solid motor mounts
-18x8.5 FN01RCs with BFG KDW2 tires (have to check the mileage on them....they look new still)
-Iridium plugs
-About 200 miles on a new RPS Max Street clutch/pressure plate/throw-out bearing
-All new oil feed lines, and I cleaned out the old oil returns
-Accessory belts replaced
-All kinds of gaskets/nuts/bolts replaced on the car
-A/C and heat work great, as well as the climate control screen

Paint is in pretty good shape. It's a good a good shine to it, but up close it's got swirl marks/scratches/light hazing in certain parts. I've done my best to clean it up since I got the car 2 1/2 years ago, but the previous owners just didn't take care of it enough I guess. I'm also really picky with things, so some stuff some people might not even notice. The interior is in good shape too. Some wear on the driver's seat, but not anything like you'd expect for a car with 104k miles.

My other question is whether I should buy/install an Emanage. How much more could I get out of the car if I had it in there and tuned? I have a boomslang harness for it, I just haven't gotten around to buying the Blue yet. It's tuned right now just to wastegate pressure (I have the EBC set to "0"). And it's as 'tuned' as the maft will let you :p .

I'm sure there's other things I'm missing, but I'll look over the Word document and post that up here just for reference.

In the next few months yeah. For a few reasons. I'm just too busy right now and could use the money. Monthly payment for the Accord, two insurance payments, soccer, and just life in general....I have no money left over and I'd like to do more stuff, like travel and take vacations for once.

I'm finishing school in June and will hopefully find a decent job soon after. And right now, I'm playing on a lot of different soccer teams, and it adds up really fast. Plus, I can play with cars for pretty much the rest of my life, but I can only play soccer for a limited time. Soccer and cars were my two hobbies, but I get a lot more out of playing than I do messing with cars now. The car frustrates me more than anything....doesn't really work as the stress relief that it used to.

I don't want to sell it, but I know it's the smarter thing to do. I worry about money a lot too, so it'll be nice to not have to so much at least for a little bit.

Totally understand mate. Why can't you get the VR4 running and have her as your daily? Fuel?

Oh it's running, I just don't ever get the chance to drive it. I've driven it once in the last month, it just sits in the garage.

And yeah, it's just not practical to have it as my daily driver. Fuel is too expensive, and to be honest, I don't really like daily driving something that old. I do a lot of driving, so I want to be in something that isn't going to irritate me with rattles, squeaks, and any other annoyances that come with owning a 15 year old car :p

Ok, I was hoping I would get somewhere around $10k. I try not to add up everything I've spent on the car, cause I know I'd either pass out or probably get sick to my stomach

But, with the ability to put my paychecks to use in other places, I could start going to BAWC gatherings all over the place if/when people have them. Same with 3Si stuff

My figure seems a little low but I put it at high retail + $1000 via NADA, not KBB.

Honestly with the price of these cars with perfect bodies, or close too it, I honestly think it might be cheaper to buy someone else's and put my newly rebuilt engine/transaxle in it.

I'm with Sean on this. $8500 would be the price with the market as it is right now. I did sell a 91 vr4 for $8k a few months ago that had 90k miles on it with a new paint job, rebuilt engine, and rebuilt trans with a 3 month warranty. Car was totally stock.
First to 184 million

yeah the market sucks for these cars. I have a 2g with low miles, upgraded turbos and a rebuilt engine and after 6 months on the market I settled for less than 9k

Hmm, well that's depressing :p

You guys think I should buy and install the Emanage or would it not be worth it?

Thats on shitty deal on your part. You could have sold it for more than that.
