Turbo mustang project. damn expensive

Post by Darkhelmet »

I guy I have some dealings with asked Jeff and I to build up his mustang with a stroked engine and carb turbo set up. Before I started pricing everything out I didn't think this would be a a very expensive venture , boy was I wrong.
The engine alone is going to cost $7000 for a 434 dart block stroker.

the guys budget was 10k, I come up with a minimum of 16k to get it together and running. I'm a little nervous undertaking this being that I've never dealth with carb turbocharging. has anyone here ever dealt with it?

we were looking at the pressureized carb option. still looks like a damn sloppy way of fuel control. for 3k we could set him up with an edlebrock port fi system.

alot of guys are scared away from efi even though its 10000000000% better than carb.

i would personally push for efi.

why are you buying a new motor? Just build up the stocker. its still going to get very pricey. Rods, stroker crank, pistons, springs, push rods, valves, turbos, manifolds, intake mani, its not going to be cheap.

the stock 302 blocks dont handle much for power.

On bikes you can take steps to seal carbs and make them adequate for running pressurized.

You have fun with that. I'm not comfortable working with that kind of money on something we're totally inexperienced with for someone we do not know.

What happened to Jesse's v6? Did he sell it? (I thought this would be for this guy).
