Re: Rant about my car

Post by Monochrome »

A friend of mine has an S2000 and I was really impressed with it. Of course it'll beat an ATX NS 3/S...

I wonder if the S2000 repair manuals are like the 3/Ss and specifically state what causes each CE light. That's the issue with OBD2 is you don't see a CE light for a bad sensor, you see a CE light for a sensor that is effect by the RESULT of something else that is wrong...

Try to find someone (be it online or in person) with an electrical repair manual and see if it's of any use at diagnosing your issue. You'd think the dealership would have one on hand, but it's been my experience that it's not always the case.

wrong. dpfe on fords 99.999% of the time is a failed sensor.

FOG....its a shame they missed the failed coil. most common cause for a 1 cyl miss on a modular motor.

all the books for all cars list the potental causes for the code. its your job to narrow it down.

in his case if its a p030x its coil, spark plug, coil circuit, ecu, injector, injector circuit, valvetrain, or base engine.

(i do drivability in a dealer and have for 7 years)

We're talking about honda's. ;)

...but you caught me generalizing. I had faulty secondary O2 sensors, EGR, and air in the fuel line CE codes on my mind at the time of that post.

Yeah the rear differential is shit on those cars, a lot of times they upgrade to the 240/Silvia rear end oddly enough.

Buddy of mine has one and I had the opportunity to drive it, very fun car but as others have said... No torque. Handled great though and once you were going it pulled quite nicely.

Not yet, but that is a good suggestion, I read that same thing on a s2000 forum too, and will give that a try eventually.

You pay for the turbo and you've got a deal (I'll even let you drive it).

haha, well, sometimes it is easier not to correct people. Changing the wires is a valid suggestion for misfires on just about every other car, so, while it doesn't apply to the S2K...

but wouldn't it be better if you could say, "My money goes to Rich and Dave's car."

Seriously.. Dave's car needs Quaife Diff and some love and attention to figure out the misfire. Then when that is done, FI.
