Do you have front aero? 9/10 times it is either one of the the motors or mechanical parts in the wing itself. The plastic parts that move the wing itself are prone to breaking. Check the front motor and then check the rear. If both are functional then it is prolly the plastic parts.
the key question is, Is the aero light on on the dash?

smoke coming out of the exhaust? mileage on the car? possibly VSS.....you leaking any fluids? sometimes oil can leak from the oil cap or a leaky VC gasket and burn on the exhaust manifold causing a nasty smell

The car had a bad oil cooler, which i replaced. There is still a slight oil leak though, nothing major. And the oil cap is aftermarket and there is no leak. 111k on the car.

Sell it...gotta know when to cut your losses. You already dumped a lot of money into what seems like something that is falling apart. If you keep it, you'll just continue to throw money away.

Give someone else the headaches :)

When the front active aero is all banged up, the arm that makes it go up and down can jam, which the motor can't move it down, and it will trigger the light and stop it from working.

If you unjam it and such then it should work fine. Just take off the aero and adjust some things with a hammer.

Well i talked to my parents about selling it, and they said they dont want me to sell it because i put so much money into it. And then i told them i didnt want to put any more money into it and they said they would fix it and i wouldnt have to pay them back for it because they want me to keep it that bad. Why, i dont know, but im happy with that.

Just fix it right/cheap enough, not taking to DEALER to fix everything, and let awesome parents pay for it.

my vr4 had 157k on it when she spun a bearing.....i since then have rebuilt the whole thing...interior, exterior, engine, suspension....and as it is finishing up the decision was a great one...u know why? bc i know what was broken, i fixed it and for the most part have upgraded to a superior part....

too many ppl give up on projects and think they can sell and buy car X with 60k and not have any problems....im a true believer if you know whats wrong with it fix it the first time and do it right....and the car for the most part will serve whatever purpose you have planned for it

how far from philly are you? is it driveable? what dealer do u go to? i can get you any OEM mitsu part pretty much almost at cost....I can also call to ask them if they will discount service but i know what they are gonna say "haha you want to bring a vr4 here after you and all your friends rebuild them and probably know far more"....but if you want ill give you the contact info and pass you to them...i suggest u have a 3si member look at it and give you the estimated cost in parts to fix her right

:smartie:
And chances are, they're going to break extra stuff just so they can charge you to fix it.
Or, at the very least, fix stuff that isn't broken.

There's a reason we call them stealerships.

The dealer actually is very good and gives us massive discounts since I have already gotten many things fixed already. Yes, the car is driveable, and i am about 3 hours from philly. It doesnt seem that there is a mechanical problem anymore because it has stopped smoking, and i think the whole reason it was smoking is because we havent driven it in about a month and it was very humid that day. All i need to get fixxed on it now is the fog lights, active aero, throw out bearing, and i figure while they have it open they might as well install a new clutch and resurface the flywheel, and then the defroster vents.

And now i am dealing with trying to get these pain in the ass snake eye lights to sit on the bumper correctly cause the previous owner had jethros fucking bodyshop fix it after he hit a dee and all of the mounting brackets are all bent and fucked. Ive tried 3 pair and they either sit in the area like shit or they stick up or get stuck on the lights, and IMO it ruins the look of the car without them.
